Ingredients
  • 1 kg chicken fillets
  • 2 tablespoons poppy seeds paste
  • 4 tablespoons yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons papaya paste
  • 2 brown onions
  • 1 tablespoon onion paste
  • 4-5 tablespoons mustard oil
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon allspice
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
Cooking Method
  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken fillets with poppy seeds paste, yogurt, papaya paste, salt, and ginger paste. Marinate for 1-2 hours in the refrigerator.

  2. Prepare the Spice Mixture: In a separate bowl, mix the onion paste (make sure to drain the onion water), allspice, red chili powder, and black pepper. Let it sit for 1-1/2 hours.

  3. Add the Brown Onion and Yogurt: Grind the brown onions with yogurt and add it to the spice mixture.

  4. Stir in the mustard oil and mix everything evenly. Let it marinate for another 1/2 hour.

  5. Skewer the Chicken: Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers.

  6. Grill the Kababs: Grill the skewers over a charcoal grill or on a barbecue grill until the chicken is cooked through and slightly charred.

  7. Serve the hot Behari Kababs with puri or paratha, green raita, and salad.
