Fried Fish is versatile and can be cooked in a number of ways. Here's how to make Southern Fried Fish, and what to include in a traditional fish fry. Classic Southern Fried Catfish dipped in batter and breaded in spicy seasoned cornflakes and fried to perfection. Do try it!

  • 1/2 kg Boneless Fish cut into fingers
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1/2 cup Cornflour
  • 1-1/2 cups Cornflakes, crushed
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Chicken Powder
  • Milk as required
  • Chilled milk to make batter
  • 1/2 tsp Baking powder
Cooking Method
  1. Place fish in a large bowl.Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder and Mix to coat well. Marinate few hours in a refrigerator.

  2. Now, In a small bowl, make batter with flour, corn flour, remaining seasonings, egg, chili sauce. Batter should be thick.

  3. Dip fish in batter and deep fry in hot oil until crisp. Remove from the oil and drain on kitchen paper. Southern Fried Fish is ready to serve. 

Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with Tartar Sauce.
