Spicy fried fish fillets are baked with a tangy yogurt based curry in this Kathor Fish Recipe By Rida Aftab.  Don't be intimidated by the word fish, this recipe is one of the easiest you'll find. It's hot, tangy and a luscious fish curry. A must try!

  • 1 kg Fish fillets
  • 1 ts Red chili
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Carom seeds powder
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • 1 cup Oil for frying
  • For Gravy (Curry)
  • 1 cup Fried onion
  • 1 cup Yogurt
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 4 Curry leaves
  • 6 Green chilies
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tsp Red chili powder
  • 2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Poppy seeds roasted
  • 2 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 4 tbsp Oil
  • 4 tbsp Tamarind pulp
Cooking Method
  1. Marinate fish fillets with flour, salt, carom seeds powder, and red chili powder for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a wok or pan and fry marinated fish for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. To make the Gravy:

  4. Take a deep baking pan, add yogurt, tamarind pulp, red chili powder, coriander powder, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves, poppy seeds, sesame, fried onion and salt.
  5. Mix well.
  6. Now put the fried fish on the yogurt mixture.
  7. Top with tomato slices and green chilies.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven of 200 degrees for 20 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
  9. Remove from the oven.
  10. Kathor Fish is ready ti serve.
  11. Enjoy!!
