This Bread Halwa Recipe by Chef Zakir is very simple and basic. You just need a handful of ingredients which you might already have on hand. This bread halwa is so easy and it gives a good amount of halwa with just few slices of bread. Do try it!

  • 1/2 liter milk
  • 250 gm dry milk
  • 6 bread slices
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 4 tbsp oil or clarified butter
  • 2 tbsp semolina
  • 2 tbsp kewra
  • For Garnishing:
  • 25 gm almonds chopped
  • 25 gm pistachios chopped
Cooking Method
  1. Cut corner of bread slices then soak them in 1/4 cup water.
  2. Heat oil or clarified butter in a pan or deep skillet.
  3. Pour milk in it.
  4. Bring to a boil then simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Crush soaked bread by using hands.
  6. Put crush bread slices into the skillet.
  7. Stir it on low flame for 5 minutes or until oil comes out the top.
  8. When it starts to get thick, add sugar, kewra and dried milk.
  9. Cook for 10 minutes or until well done.
  10. Take it out in a serving dish.
  11. Sprinkle pistachios and almonds over it.
  12. Delicious Bread Halwa is ready now.
Serving Suggestions

Serve bread halwa warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you'll get many requests for seconds.
