This Grilled Tabana Fish recipe by Chef Zakir, only needs a few minutes in an asian inspired marinade before placing on the grill, so you can put this meal together in less than 30 minutes. Basting with the marinade creates a tangy outer surface on the fish that is fantastic.

  • 1 Whole fish
  • 2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Onion ground
  • 2-3 Fresh red chilies ground
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 Spring onion chopped
  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 2-3 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Crushed black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp White pepper
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
Cooking Method
  1. Wash whole fish and mark cuts on it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine together the ground onion, ground red chilies, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, crushed red pepper, black pepper powder, turmeric, white pepper, black pepper and salt to taste.
  3. Now add 2 tbsp ketchup and mix well.
  4. Now marinate fish in the mixture.
  5. Now wrap marinated fish in a silver foil.
  6. Cook in burning coals or grill in oven.
  7. When the fish is tender, remove in a platter.
  8. Sprinkle top with lemon juice.
  9. Grilled Tabana Fish is ready to serve
