  • 500 gm Chicken with bones
  • 2 Bitter gourd karela
  • 1 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 tsp red Chili powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Crushed cumin seeds
  • 250 gm Yogurt
  • 3 Boiled tomatoes
  • Oil for frying
  • ¼ cup Oil
  • Salt to taste
Cooking Method
  1. Peel bitter gourds and slit lengthwise.
  2. Remove seeds and cut into slices.
  3. Now sprinkle over them.
  4. Keep aside for 1 hour.
  5. Now wash and squeeze very well with fresh water.
  6. Now deep fry karela for 4-5 minutes or until golden.
  7. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towel.
  8. Set aside.
  9. Heat oil in another wok or pot over medium heat.
  10. Add onion and fry until light brown.
  11. Then add ginger garlic paste and chicken.
  12. Cook and stir until chicken is no longer pink.
  13. Add chili powder, turmeric, yogurt, chopped tomatoes, salt. crushed cumin seeds.
  14. Cover with a lid and cook on low flame for 12 – 15 minutes.
  15. Now remove the lid, add in fried bottle gourd.
  16. Cook and stir another 2-3 minutes or until gravy is thickened and oil come on top.
  17. Take it out in a dish.
  18. Delicious Chicken Karelay is ready to serve.
Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with roti and Tomato raita.
