Ingredients
  • ½ kg Chicken
  • 300 gm Rice
  • ½ kg Potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 Onions
  • 250 gm Yogurt
  • Mix whole spices as required
  • 50 gm Plum
  • 2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • ¼ bunch Coriander leaves
  • ¼ bunch Mint leaves
  • 3-4 Green chilies
  • 2 tbsp Kewra
  • few drops Red food color
  • few drops Green food color
  • ½ cup Ghee
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Chili powder
  • ¼ cup Ghee
Cooking Method
  1. Heat ghee in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  2. Fry chopped onions for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. Remove some onions and keep aside.
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste in the remaining onions along with chicken.
  5. Cook and stir fry for 20 minutes or until the chicken is tender.
  6. Now add whole all spice, yogurt, turmeric, red chili powder and salt as required.
  7. Cover the pan and let it cook for 10-15 minutes or until chicken is cookecd thorugh and oil comes on top.
  8. Meanwhile, In a separate pot, add water and mix in 1 tsp turmeric along with diced potatoes.
  9. Boil until tender then deep fry the potatoes.
  10. Cook the rice and in the meantime.
  11. Add fried potatoes in the chicken gravy and turn the heat off.
  12. Now sprinkle green coriander, green chilies, chopped mint leaves, sliced plums and chopped tomatoes.
  13. When the rice is half down.
  14. Spread three layers of rice on top of the chicken mixture, and cover with crushed brown onions.
  15. Add a few drops of kewra , red food color, green food color and melted ghee.
  16. Put it on dum for 10-15 minutes or until well done.
  17. Dish it out.
  18. Delicious Rung Dar Biryani is ready to serve.
Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with raita and raw salad.
