This is an excellent, easily prepared Dehli Biryani recipe, combining rice and meat with spices. Do try this Dehli Ki Saadi Biryani Recipe By Chef Zakir, use homemade spices instead of packet masala to get a great taste and texture of Plain Dehli Biryani.

  • 1 cup Oil
  • ½ kg Basmati rice
  • 4 cups Water
  • ½ kg Chicken pieces
  • 1 tbsp Mix whole spices
  • ½ tsp Nutmeg mace
  • 2–3 Star anise
  • 8–10 Plums
  • a pinch of Saffron
  • a pinch Orange food color
  • 1 tsp Kewra
  • Salt as required
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic paste
  • 4 medium Onions
  • 1 cup Yogurt
Cooking Method
  1. Boil rice with salt and 4 cups of water.
  2. Drain the water out when it boils.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry onions till golden brown.
  4. Add all spices, star anise and chicken till meat changes its color.
  5. Mix yogurt with ginger garlic paste and add in it.
  6. Cover the pan and after few minutes remove the lid, the meat will be done in its own water.
  7. High the flame and fry well, when the water dries out put the rice layer.
  8. Then add saffron, orange food color, kewra and put it on dum.
  9. Pour well mixed in a dish and sprinkle fried onion on it.
  10. Dish it out.
  11. Dehli ki Saadi Biryani is ready to serve.

Serve hot with raita.
