For Pastry:
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 8 ounce plain flour
  • 4 ounce butter
  • chilled water to knead dough
For Filling:
  • 500 gm mutton mince
  • 2 to matoes cut in round slices
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp Wooster sauce
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp oregano leaves
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Cooking Method
To Make Tart Pastry:
  1. In a bowl, cream butter with egg yolk.
  2. Then add plain flour.
  3. Beat for 4-5 minutes or until mixture resembles crumbs.
  4. Gradually add chilled water and knead a soft dough.
  5. Leave it to rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Now roll the dough and cut into small rounds.Place rounds in the small tart trays.Set aside.
To Make Tart Filling:
  1. Heat oil in deep pan or skillet on medium high heat.
  2. Saute onion for 2 minutes then add ginger garlic paste.
  3. Stir fry for 1 minute.
  4. Put mutton mince into the pan.
  5. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until all water dries up or its change color.
  6. Now add flour, tomato ketchup, Wooster sauce and water.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until mince tender.
  9. Remove from the heat and let it cool completely.
To Proceed:
  1. Fill tarts with mince filling.Top each tart with a slice of tomato.
  2. Sprinkle Oregano on the tarts.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.
  4. Savory Mince Tarts are ready to serve.
